You can learn SEO online. Then you're on the right page, because our SEO guide for beginners is easy to understand.

It's not strange that you searched for "SEO" on Google. A lot of people do that.

If you're on this page, you can find out what SEO is and what some of its most interesting methods and traits are.

What does SEO mean?

Meaning: SEO, which stands for "Search Engine Optimization," is a type of internet marketing. It's the process of making a website rank higher in a search engine's natural results. Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of making your website better for search engines so that it moves up the SERPs for certain terms.

Still not sure? Then fine, let me explain it to you even more:

If you want your website to show up in a search engine's free results, you'll need to work on SEO. It's the key to success, and it starts with your business and finishes with your customers. Before 2010, SEO meant using buzzwords over and over again to get on the first page of search engines. But search engines like Google, Bing, and Yandex have gotten better over time, so it's not as easy as it used to be.

So, in the next part, we'll talk step by step about important SEO tips and strategies.

Types of SEO

There are 3 main types of SEO: White hat, Black hat, & Grey hat.

Black Hat SEO

Black hat SEO is the opposite of white hat SEO, as the name suggests.

It means following the rules of search engines and using only legal ways to boost a website's ranking.

If you don't follow the search engines' rules and directions, your website could be penalized.

But these aren't the only types of SEO. There are different kinds of white hat SEO, such as;

  • SEO Onpage (Technical SEO)

  • Off-page SEO

  • Local SEO

  • App Store Optimization

  • YouTube SEO

Learn Technical SEO Onpage

On-page SEO is the same as technical SEO because it uses some of the most important technical words.

Research on Keywords

Does SEO still need keyword research? The answer is a resounding YES! Let me explain to you what topic research is and how to do it.

What's Keyword Research: It's a way to find out what people put into search engines like Google when they want to find something.

It's the first thing you should think about in this SEO Beginner's Guide.

You should put them in your content in a smart way, which will help your content rank higher on a search engine results page (SERP).

How to Look for Keywords: Well, there are many SEO tools that can help you find keywords. But first, I'll tell you the best-kept secret about how to do topic research without any tools. See below: Let's say you run an SEO company in New York. Then, the above ideal formula will come up with a key phrase where the service is the SEO company and the place is Los Angeles.

So, "SEO Agency in New York" will be the best topic for you. This could work in 90% of cases, and the other 10% could be solved with the tool below.

Using the Google Keyword Planner Tool to do keyword research:

Just go to Google.com and type "Google Keyword Planner" into the search bar. Then go to https://ads.google.com/home/tools/keyword-planner/ and sign in with your Gmail ID.

After that, give Google the information it asks for, and then you can use the tool that Google gives you to find keywords.

Rules to Follow for Keyword Research in Keyword Planner Tool:

Research on a Domain

Basically, the first step to making your website successful is to pick a great domain name that is also good for SEO.

What is Domain Research? Your website's domain name is like its real address. It makes it easier for people to find you on the Internet.

Most people don't care about the technical IP address of sites, so the domain names hide it.How to Do Domain Research: Just pick a domain name that clearly shows what your business is about and works well from an SEO point of view.

Examining the competition

You need to know who your rivals are and what strategies they use so you can compare their strengths and weaknesses to those of your product or service.

What is a competitor study: It's the key to getting ahead of your competitors and getting to the same customer.

A competitive study is a key part of the marketing plan for your business.

How to Research Your Competitors: The easiest way is to type your root term into Google's search bar and choose the top 3 to 5 websites that come up on the first page of the search results.

And start looking at what they are doing in terms of SEO.

Research Hosted on a Server: You can pay a service company to host it for you, or you can do it yourself on your server.

What is hosting a server: Hosting a website means making sure that your website can be found on the World Wide Web (WWW).

But the easiest and simplest way to run a website is to use a service provider.

How to Do Hosting Research: It's not easy to find the best server hosting service because they all say they have the best server.Even so, the best way to host a server is to use Google, but you can also get help from people who have done it before.

URL Mapping & Re-Writing

Without URL mapping, your website can't be addressed correctly to get it to rank in SERPs.

What is URL Mapping: It is the process of figuring out which page of a website should have targeted keywords to make the whole website or page as optimized as possible.

How to Change URLs: Google says that you should focus on one keyword per page, but you shouldn't focus on the same keyword on another page of your site.

In the same way, the reason for this is that if you target the same term on two pages of your website, Google won't know how to rank you in the SERPs.

The Optimization of Meta Tags Meta tags are meant to show what a page is about, but with more information and context, so that the user can understand what the page is about.

What are Meta Tags? They are the pieces of information that a webmaster puts in the head of a website's code (HTML).

Types of Meta Tags: There are a lot of meta tags in SEO, but we'll only talk about the most important ones here.

Title Tag: It should be 60 characters long, including spaces, but you can make it longer if you want to. To get your SEO title ready, the most important thing is to use the brand name and the phrase you want to use.

Description Tag: This second main tag should be between 150 and 160 characters long, including spaces. If it's longer than that, it won't show up in search engine results pages.

Schema Markup for SEO Beginners

Schema Markup is especially helpful for ratings and reviews because it lets you show star grades, reviewer names, and other useful information.

What is Schema Markup? Schema markup is a code (called a "semantic vocabulary") that helps search engine efficiency in a big way.

  • Adding schema code to your site can make it look better and more interesting in search results.

  • Because search engines can better understand them and give people more useful results in SERPs.

  • Studies have shown that websites with schema markup rank four places higher than those without it.

  • How to set up Schema Markup: It's not hard to do. With schema markup code, you can get better results by following the steps below;

  • You need to go to Google's Structured Data Markup Helper first.

  • Second, choose the kind of entry you want to mark up with schema. Then, copy the URL and put it into the field.

  • The third step is to add schema markup data to the right pane by putting in all the information you want to show up.

  • Click the "Create HTML" button.

  • Then, copy and paste the code that has been underlined. This is the code for your style markup. You can also get the code by clicking the "Download" button.

  • And finally, copy that code and put it into your content management system.

Content Optimization

What is content optimization? It is the process of making the text of your website more friendly to search engines.

How to Optimize Content: Using bold, italics, and links in your content is the right way to optimize it so that your website's SERP (search engine result page) rank goes up. Even so, content improvement is also the process of making content better and adding SEO factors to it.

User Search Intent:Search purpose is the first thing that needs to be met in your content, whether you're optimizing a web page or a blog post.

There are four different kinds of search intentions: informational, navigational, transactional, and commercial.

Keyword Density, Location, and Visibility

Density is the ratio of the number of times your term appears to the number of words on your page.

Proximity refers to how far apart the search terms are in each keyword.

Prominence: This shows how often your term is used, such as how often it appears in the most important parts of your web pages.

In particular, how close your term is to the start of the title tag, heading tags (H1, H2, H3, etc.), and Meta Description.

Optimization of Heading Tags

SEO has a total of six heading tags, which are used to separate the heading and subheading of any text on a web page.

There should only be one H1 tag on a page. If your page does have more headings, you should use the H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6 heading tags for them.

Optimization of Alt Tags (SEO for Images)

Because search engine crawlers can't read pictures, the image alt tags are used to describe them. With the help of an image alt tag, search engines can figure out what the pictures are about, and your pictures can show up in the image part of SERPs.

Robots.txt is the first thing SEO beginners should think about.

Robots.txt is a text file that you put on the root server of your website. It is the first page that search engine robots look at when they visit your site.

Why You Should Use It: The Robots.txt file tells search engine spiders how to crawl your website. You can set which pages should be crawled and which should not.

XML & HTML Sitemaps Creation

The XML sitemap is a file that helps search engine bots find pages on our website. In the same way, all URLs were easy to find in one place, and it used to give information like the URLs of pages, posts, categories, etc.

HTML sitemaps are made and shared so that users can easily find the right pages on a website.

Set up the nofollow attribute.

Having links to other websites on your site isn't good for SEO unless you use the Nofollow feature in the anchor tag.Moz Pro is one of the best Chrome apps for SEO marketers who want to look at a web page's external and nofollow links.

Improvements to speed

Most of the time, it takes a person 7 seconds to decide whether or not to stay on your website. So, you need to make your page go faster.

This is the most technical step, so it can be done by the computer developer. If you know how to do the same thing, you can also do it.Keeping your website's page speed up is important if you want to keep people coming back to any page on your website.

In this SEO help for beginners, I tell you that GTmetrix, Google Page Speed, and many other tools can be used to improve the speed of a website as a whole.

#1 SEO Ranking Factor: Google Core Web Vitals

Google's core web vitals are the ranking signals or a set of criteria and metrics that Google will use to judge the general user experience of a website.

These ranking factors are meant to measure how fast, quick, and stable the site looks to users.

Core Vitals will affect the Google rank, so this is also Google's latest change for SEO professionals. It has put together a list of measures, now called "web vitals," that show how well a page on a website or blog works for the user.

If you have a website and want to get people to come, sign up, and buy from it, you should pay attention to Google's latest rules. In its most recent update, Google said that UX-related signals will be consolidated into Core Web Vitals, which will become the ranking signals in June 2021.

Core Web Vitals started out as a list of specific things that Google thinks are important for the general user experience of a website.

The three parts of Google Core Web Vitals that measure page speed and user involvement are the largest contentful paint, the first input delay, and the cumulative layout shift. So, the general 'user experience' signal, along with the core web vitals, will be very helpful for SERP rankings.

AMP Optimization

What is AMP Optimization? "Accelerated Mobile Pages" is what "AMP" stands for. These websites are made for people who use phones, not for people who use computers.

Most people are on the Internet with their phones. So, it told you to make sure your website was ready for mobile visitors. AMP is the best way to make things better for mobile users.

Also, when a mobile search is done, AMP pages are always given more weight than non-AMP pages. AMP's goal is to make websites load even faster.

People don't want to wait too long, so if your website doesn't fully load in 3 seconds, you lose 40% of your traffic.

Also, if a website has a lot of engaging parts, an AMP version is recommended. It will make your pages load very quickly, which will make the experience better for your users.

You don't have to change your whole website; just make an AMP version of a few pages will do.

How does AMP work? Accelerated Mobile Pages use AMP HTML, which is a Google-made open-source structure.

It has HTML parts that are best for displaying on mobile devices. And it used to get rid of everything on your page that slowed it down, like forms, JavaScript, iframes, ads, and so on.

Caching AMP pages helps them load faster.

When you open a page, things like pictures and videos are not fully loaded. They will load when you get to the image or video itself. If you have a WordPress site, it is better to use the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP for WP) tool.

Google Analytics Setup

Google Analytics lets you look at every part of your website, from unique users to referral sources, bounce rates, device types, time on page, click-through rates, etc.

Google Analytics is a tool for keeping track of how many people visit your website and how they use it.

How to Set Up Google Analytics: The best way to add Google Analytics to your website is to sign up on the Google Analytics page and get the tracking code from there.

If the tracking code is written in JavaScript, you will need to copy and paste it into the head part just before closing the head tag.

Google search console , Bing, and Yandex Setup

Google Search Console, which used to be called Google Webmaster Tool, is a free web tool from Google. It helps webmasters check the state of indexing and make their sites more visible. This lets you find out about any technical problems on your website and fix them.

Google Search Console and Bing and Yandex Webmaster Tools do almost all the same things.I've also written a detailed piece about the Google search console, which isn't part of this SEO guide for beginners. Look at it and get a better idea of what it means.

How to Start with Off-Page SEO

The reverse of on-page SEO is off-page SEO. It shows all of the things that are done outside of the website, but actually help the website. In other words, SEO off-page is similar to the term "off-site SEO," which clearly describes techniques used outside of your intended website to improve your rankings in SERPs.

Search Engine Submissions:Usually, it's the only SEO method that you don't have to do.

Because indexing is done through Search Engine Submission, which can also be done through Google Search Console (Google Webmaster Tool).

Content Submissions:If you want to get more websites to link to yours, do the following:

Then, you have to get your content released on some Article sites, Press Release sites, Web 2.0 sites, and classified ad posting sites. You can also send in your content as a PDF, an infographic, a picture, or in many other ways.

(Social Network) Sharing of Approved Content:To get social signals, you need to share the link to your website's released content on some of the biggest social media sites. You can also save any of your favorite web pages, like stories, blog posts, images, and videos, on the most popular social bookmarking sites.

How to Start with Local SEO

Local SEO means, in a nutshell, that your business is listed on Google Maps through the Google My Business tool. So, with Local SEO, you can make your business more visible in local search results if it has a physical place, like a store or an agency's office.

Setting up and optimizing a Google Local Listing

If you want people to be able to find you on Google Maps, you have to put your business on Google through the Google My Business tool.

You have to fill out all the information about your business, and it's also very important to get more reviews on Google for your business.

Citation or Listing of a Local Business

Local business listing is when you put your business in local business directories. It is one of the most important things to do in SEO.

This SEO method helps to improve your SERPs, so that when someone looks for your business on a search engine result page, the information about your business will show up automatically.

Optimization for the Mobile App Store (ASO)

What is App Store Optimization? It is the process of making apps work better so that they show up higher in the search results of an app store. The higher your app gets in a store's search results, the more likely it is that people will find it and use it. It helps bring more people to an app page and improves the app's conversion rate so that people will download it on their own.

How to Optimize a Mobile App: On The App Store, you need to think about things like;

  • Find the keywords that are important to your app.

  • Use those words in the title and description of the app.

  • Keep the terms short, and put them in between "," (up to 100 characters).

  • Use a 50-character app description, including spaces.

  • Make sure that the description has one focused keyword.

  • Make sure that the app title you are giving is the only one of its kind.

  • Use the app images that show what your app does best.

  • There are some tools that can help you find themes.

  • Keep track of where your keywords rank.

  • Ask people who use your app to review and rate it.

YouTube SEO

When it comes to YouTube SEO, a lot of the work you need to do can be put into a process that you can use to optimize all of your old videos and then each new one as you post it.

What is YouTube SEO? After Google, YouTube is the second most-used search engine in the world. Unfortunately, a lot of digital marketers still treat it like any other social media site.

But to be successful on YouTube, you need to do more than just post videos. Just like with your website, you need to optimize your videos with information.

How to Use YouTube SEO: The steps you need to take to make your movies searchable on YouTube;

  • Change the name of your video file to include a term.

  • Put your keyword in the title of the movie in a natural way.

  • Optimize your video description.

  • Tag your video with famous words that have something to do with your topic.

  • Sort your uploaded movie into categories.

  • Add your own thumbnail picture to the link to your video's results.

  • Use an SRT file to add closed captions and subtitles.

  • Add Cards and End Screens to your YouTube show to get more people to watch it.

  • Make sets that fit your needs.

  • For the best YouTube SEO, use these sites to submit videos.

Grey Hat SEO

Grey hat SEO methods are a mix of both Black Hat SEO and White Hat SEO. Most of these practices involve shady methods, some of which could be called "black hat."

In the same way, negative SEO is a popular method that can be used by both white-hat and black-hat SEO experts to get Google to punish other websites.

Grey hat SEO includes things like SEO theft, using spun content, buying links, and grabbing domains.

Black Hat SEO

Black Hat SEO is when people use tricks to make a website more visible or move it up in search results. Part of it is SEO that is bad.

These are not-allowed ways to boost a page's ranking in a SERP by breaking the terms of service for that search engine.

Black hat SEO includes things like cloaking, doorway pages, secret text, link farms, and sneaky redirects.

Black Hat SEO is not something we recommend at The Web Hospitality.
